We opened the doors to our very first location and roastery in May 2016. Our Owner, Chad Bell, had previously owned a coffee cart in the Gaslamp and was looking to take the next step in the business. Thatβs when Achilles Coffee Roasters was born.Β
When the shop first opened, we served basic coffee drinks and had a much smaller selection of Pour Over coffee. Over time we have added a lounge, kitchen and expanded our Pour Over menu to make us the shop we are today.
Located on top of Cortez Hill, this shop lets you take in a breathtaking view of the city with your coffee and food. On roasting days, the smell of fresh coffee flows through the streets of Cortez Hill. We offer free wifi to help you stay productive in our little downtown getaway.

Each week we roast the largest selection of Pour Over coffee in San Diego. The smell of our roasting coffee fills the air of Cortez Hill with its blissful aroma.
We love having our Roaster in the middle of our first shop. It’s a great way to get the community interested about the wonderful world of speciality coffee.
We typically roast at least twice a week.

We have all of your cafe favorites like lattes, cappuccinos, and more. We make our Mocha and Vanilla Syrups in house to pair exceptionally with our Cortez Hill Espresso.
Choose from the largest Pour Over selection in San Diego. We feature 13 Single Origin coffee and 1 Blend available on a daily basis. We occasionally add small batch roasts or change details of our roasts so ask your barista what’s new!

Our kitchen cooks up killer menu of food for any time of day. Start your morning with a Hillcrest, snack on a Tourmaline, or grab a healthy lunch with our Beacons Salad. All made fresh and fast.
