Swami’s is our Medium Roast coffee from Costa Rica. These beans are graded at SHB (Strictly Hard Bean), which is synonymous with SHG (Strictly High Grown), meaning they are grown above 1350 meters. They also meet the grade for EP (European Preparation), meaning the raw beans are sorted by hand to remove any defective beans. These high standards are just the start for Costa Rica’s coffee-growing culture.
Costa Rica’s coffee has a great reputation around the world because it is illegal to grow anything except 100% arabica beans. Heavy rainfall and high altitudes help contribute to the ideal growing conditions found in Costa Rica. The beans are then picked by hand, making sure they are ripe and ready to make an amazing cup of coffee.
Swami’s is the perfect name for our Costa Rican coffee because it is an ideal surf spot in Encinitas, CA. Located behind the Self-Realization Fellowship, Swami’s is named after Swami Paramahansa Yogananda. This classic surf spot is world-renowned, just like Costa Rica’s coffee.
